The new role you may not have heard about

Welcome back to The Agent GTM Newsletter where we share actionable tips, free AI tools, and market insights every Friday.

Clay turned GTM engineer into popular job. Forward-deployed engineers are all the rage in tech right now.

I've started to see a new role pop up, but the customer is the marketing team.

Samsara is hiring someone to build a “context layer” — a structured source of truth for messaging, ICP, and positioning that the product marketing team team and their AI tools can draw on. They also want that person to turn launch calendars, QBR decks, and intake into workflows that run themselves.

Sonar wants someone who sits with marketers, learns the day-to-day, and automates the highest-leverage parts.

GWI wants someone to build “Growth Marketing OS.”

This isn't only happening in marketing. GitLab posted an “AI Transformation Owner” seat into the field org. Finance teams are hiring similar roles. Company-wide AI enablement seats exist too.

If you’re an agent builder, this is worth paying attention to. Companies want to move faster with AI. Individual ChatGPT workspaces can only do so much. I've read through dozens of these postings, and here's what I see companies looking for.

  1. A context layer. Shared skills, prompt libraries, a source of truth for messaging and process so a 40-person team isn’t running 40 versions of the same prompt. This is the baseline. I’ve been building something in this direction — a persistent GTM model that agents can read from, so you’re not re-explaining positioning every session. I’ll write more on it in a future issue. If you want to check it out, it's free to try here.
  2. Connecting the tools. Marketing work still hops across calendar / decks / Salesforce / Slack, and all of these have some kind of "agentic" capabilities. Someone needs to wire them up, see if new tools are needed, and make them work for the people using them.
  3. Staying current on AI. AI tools are constantly changing. Companies want someone who watches what works, brings it into the stack, and retires what doesn't.

If you're hiring for these roles, I'd love to talk to you and learn more, as I'm building out the GTM Brain, and it could be a "starter pack" for whomever you hire.
